CLASSES Musical Improv Comedy is an exciting program that will provide you with the tools required for improvising within the framework of musical games, invented songs, short form scenes, and full length improvised musical theatre shows. We’ll first lay down the fundamental tools of this art form and continuously build on your skills each session, covering musical elements such as melody, harmony, lyric, rhythm, and rhyming. We’ll learn how to create content within different song structures, styles, and contexts, we’ll practice how to seize the musical moments of a scene, and then we’ll gradually build all the elements required to create a full length improvised musical show. Throughout each level, we will focus on point of view, commitment, truth, choice, group dynamic, support, and movement, which will help build deeper, more connected work, will result in more entertaining performances, and will strengthen your general skill sets for any improvised scene you take part in going forward.
