VALUES AND POLICIES Musical Improv Montreal (Classes and Shows) is a privately owned company, currently unaffiliated with other schools, theatres, venues, or government agencies. Below are our core values and policies. If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to contact us. Program FocusOur program focuses on teaching an art form and facilitating performance opportunities in group settings, with elements of technique and collaboration. We aim to provide a positive learning environment with clear expectations for participation and feedback. While the experience can feel personally enriching, please note that we do not offer therapy or individualized attention that goes beyond the class structure. Eligibility & RegistrationOur programs are designed specifically for an adult learning environment. To ensure a consistent experience and maintain a professional classroom dynamic, all students must be 18 years of age or older by the start date of the class. We are unable to accept registrations for anyone who will be under the age of 18 when the program begins. By registering, you confirm that you will meet this age requirement. Program PrerequisitesWhile many of our workshops and introductory sessions are open to everyone, certain advanced classes or specialized programs require completion of specific prerequisite levels within our curriculum. Because we build skill sets progressively from class to class, experience gained elsewhere does not automatically qualify a student for advanced placement. Please review the course description for each program carefully before registering to confirm if there are any stated prerequisites. It is the student’s responsibility to ensure they have completed the necessary requirements within our program. If you are unsure whether you meet a particular prerequisite, please contact us for clarification before completing your registration. Constructive FeedbackWe offer learning experiences for a collaborative performance art form. Feedback will be shared constructively to support growth of the individual and the group as a whole, with a focus on specific skills and techniques. We encourage everyone to be open to feedback as part of the learning process. Improv, by its very nature, may produce unpredictable themes or emotions. Though we aim to provide a supportive environment, it’s important to understand that we can’t anticipate or adapt to every personal reaction or sensitivity that might arise. Behavioural ExpectationWe have zero tolerance for inappropriate, abusive, dangerous, disrespectful, or what we deem to be toxic behaviour. We reserve the right to remove any student whose behaviour negatively affects the class atmosphere or crosses boundaries.Inclusivity and SupportWe aim to make our classes and shows accessible, with a focus on removing barriers and increasing representation for marginalized communities, individuals with disabilities, and those experiencing financial hardship. Financial assistance, funded by student registration fees, may be possible based on availability each term. Work-trade options may also be offered. For more information or to discuss options, please contact us. Contributing to the CommunityIf you would like to support another student financially, we and the community thank you! Please contact us to learn more about how you can contribute. Refund PolicyWe typically do not offer refunds once classes have begun. Refunds before classes start are not guaranteed unless the spot can be filled by someone on the waiting list or a replacement student.
